In March and November 2016 I made two trips to Lake Maynara, Tanzania. I spent several days in the same spot observing and recording instances that transpired and transformed in front of me. I was mesmerized by an image in the distance of glistening water, and what I thought were birds floating on the water. It was only on my return to the same spot a few months later that I discovered that what I had thought were birds were actually fishermen. Ironically on that trip they were no longer there because the season for fishing was over.
